My new
Buffalo Prairie Bows are based on the plains style, buffalo hunting bows. However not implied to be "replica" bows, these bows offer the same compact size, "gull wing" shape and reflexed handle\tips for extra performance.
You get the great finish work you expect but with the satisfaction of knowing you are shooting a bow made with traditional hand tools. These bows range in sizes from 48" long up to 60" long, depending on how far you want to draw it. Traditionally these bows are only drawn 20-22"! but by extending the length of the bow and\or adding sinew we can tiller them out further to accommodate
up to a
28" draw! The main difference in these, compared to my
Osage hunters is, these Prairie bows have flatter but still rounded, "bend through the handle" style grips, NOT the rigid handled, contoured grips of my standards bows. These bows are perfect for those who would rather sacrifice that contoured handle, for a shorter, snappier bow.
Often times I have been asked to make bows 58" long that draw to 28". This is not something I would consider doing with my standard bows, but with these new
Buffalo Prairie Bows, this is very easy to do, safely and reliably. As far as performance goes, This design has been proven for hundreds or thousands of years and you still get all the same ruggedness and reliability of my Osage Hunters. The grips on this style are straight and DO NOT offer a "cut-in arrow shelf". Traditionally these bows are shot off knuckle, however the rolled ends of the leather grip act as a mini arrow shelf and indicator for a user friendly shooting experience.
Is your draw length really too long for these bows???? what are the benefits of these short bows???
