The Paleo side notched stone points are of an ancient design used in many different weapons. Atlatl, spear and arrow points alike. this design allows for a heavier point without too much resistance of a wider cutting edge. The curved blades cut going in, and if the point should stay in the animal or get pulled out, it also cuts on its exit. the side notches allow for easy hafting without creating "barbs" to snag the hide on the way in.
My Paleo side notched points are made to be heavier points without sacrificing penetration of some extra wide Cahokia styles of the same weight. If you want a point over 100grains but want to keep a slender 7\8-1" cutting width, these points are highly recommended.
These points are as
sharp as they come, they are delivered to you with a dreadfully sharp
serrated edge and a strong chiseled tip. Typical weights of these Paleo points range from 100- 135 grain. Read about recommended sizes and weights on the
Main Flintknapping\ Stone hunting point page. Before insisting on a heavy point, please read the info on all my stone point pages!
These point are for those that truly need a heavier point to get their arrows to an acceptable weight of 500 grains or more. You should not expect as good of penetration with these points as you can expect with my other styles. Some folks insist on needing a heavy point and if you are one of them, this one is for you. However you should know that I still recommend using a lighter point of a different style, but these will get the job done. Please read this information before you decide on a point. http://gillsprimitivearchery.com/Very_Important_Info__.html
